· TYPE LOCALITY. "...circa Maracanda" [Zeravshansky Mts., Uzbekistan].
· RANGE. From Kopet-Dagh to Dzhungarsky Alatau.
· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The nominate subspecies flies in Ghissar. Other known forms are as follows:
ssp. sieversi (Christoph, 1885) - Kopet-Dagh;
ssp. obscurior (Staudinger, 1887) - Tian-Shan, Tarbagatai, the S. Altai;
ssp. sartha (Staudinger, 1886) (bona sp.?) - the Alaisky Mts.
In many populations, UPS postdiscal bands vary from fully expressed to totally reduced.
· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Steppe-clad slopes and sparse woodlands at 1,000-2,500 m a.s.l. Flight period: July-August.
· SIMILAR SPECIES. Ch. staudingeri: UPS postdiscal bands always well-developed; UNH paler.
